The Burkey team at the FirstEnergy Stadium topping out ceremony
On February 15, 2023, the Reading Fightin’ Phils and Burkey Construction held a topping out ceremony for the ongoing addition and renovation of FirstEnergy Stadium.
The first floor of the Event Center will showcase new locker rooms for both home and away teams, keeping the stadium up to date with the most recent Minor League protocols issues by the MLB. Batting cages and new weight rooms, among other facilities, will enhance the players’ experience at the stadium.
On the second floor, an event space that can accomodate up to 550 individuals will allow fans to enjoy unparalleled views of Fightins games. This portion of the Event Center can accomodate a multitude of community events, including banquets, weddings, and more, at any time of the year.
While the Event Center will not be fully completed until 2024, there are many exciting upgrades that fans can enjoy during the 2023 season. In addition to a new home wall beneath the existing videoboard, new LED field lights provide a brighter viewing experience and exciting lighting effects after home runs, wins, and other in-game events.
The Fightin Phils are longtime clients of Burkey, having completed multiple additions and renovations since our initial partnership in the 1950s.
