Eric Burkey: President and CEO

Eric provides executive direction for Burkey Construction and its affiliated companies. He is dedicated to providing a superior client experience in a genuine, honest, and ethical approach. Maintaining strong relationships and cultivating new ones have been a key element in Burkey's past and current success, and he intends to see that it continues well into the future.

After graduating from Susquehanna University and Penn State University with degrees in construction management and business, Eric joined The Clark Construction Group. He worked on projects spanning from the Washington DC Metro to San Diego before starting his tenure at Burkey.

When he's not working, Eric enjoys spending time in the outdoors and gives back to the community by serving on the boards of several non-profit organizations and capital campaigns, including Berks County Community Foundation, RACC Foundation Board, and the YMCA.


Mike Micozzi: Vice President of Estimating

Having dedicated most of his life to the building industry, Mike's longstanding career guarantees a relationship built on dedication, trust, and honesty for every client. He has led efforts to secure and build projects in multiple market sectors, with a focus on estimating and project management, for 40 years.

Mike supervises Burkey's estimating efforts, providing experienced direction to the budget lifecycle of a project. Throughout his career, he has provided client-focused solutions on many signature projects, earning high praise and numerous awards for quality and sustainability in construction.

Mike is active in his local community, currently serving on the Board of Trustees for the Reading Public Library.


Frank Watts: Vice President of Operations

Throughout his 13-year career at Burkey and 25 years in the industry, Frank has provided direction and leadership to Burkey's project operations and design-build efforts. His tenure as an accomplished architect, combined with his extensive construction experience, gives him an in-depth understanding of all aspects of a project's life cycle. With this "big picture" view, Frank provides highly-valued guidance to Burkey's project teams.

Frank has played an integral role in the management of award-winning projects for Burkey, including Alvernia University's PLEX and the GoggleWorks Apartments. He has also served as the Construction Manager for the City of Reading, RACC, BCTV, and US Asset Services.

Currently, Frank sits on the board and various committees of Mary's Shelter and Birdsboro Nazarene Church.


Ben Ross: Director of Preconstruction

Ben provides direction to Burkey's preconstruction services through his in-depth understanding of project budgeting, material costs trends, and constructability. His involvement begins at a project's inception, providing valuable input on the design process and budgeting practices. Ben's team-first mentality and qualities as a communicator, listener, and team builder give him a unique perspective on a project's earliest stages, allowing him to effectively manage a project's many moving pieces and lay the groundwork for success.

As all preconstruction services at Burkey are uniquely tailored to the specific needs of the client and project, Ben serves as the "hub" of information, organization, and decision-making, ensuring that all team members have the necessary tools and resources to successfully move forward together.

A longtime Berks County resident, Ben has a genuine desire to make a positive impact in his local community. He currently serves on the Board of Directors of the Greater Reading Chamber Alliance, the Site Improvements Committee of the Animal Rescue League of Berks County, and is an active member of his church.


Matthew Forrer: President, Burkey Custom Services

With more than 18 years of industry experience, Matt's extensive knowledge and meticulous attention to detail allow him to bring inventive direction to Burkey Custom Services. This branch of the company, which focuses on smaller construction projects and service work, has been under Matt's leadership since 2018.

Matt has played a pivotal role in the management of award-winning projects with several of Burkey's long-term clients. He led the company into the green building movement, overseeing the construction of two LEED-certified buildings, one of which was the second of its kind in Pennsylvania.

An active member of his hometown community, Matt currently sits on his local planning commission and on the board of the City of Reading, 18th Ward Improvement District.


Ben Currie: Vice President and Director of Custom Services

Ben has been with Burkey since 2018 and is passionate about quality construction, good design, and innovative problem-solving. With a career spanning more than 20 years, he has hands-on experience in fields ranging from custom cabinetry and timber framing to industrial roofing. He takes great pride in projects that enable clients to make better use of their spaces and enjoy them more.

Prior to moving to Berks County in 2012, Ben spent several years working in Philadelphia architecture firms. He focused on concept visualization through sketching, watercolor painting, and digital compositions, combining his personal interest of beautiful design and realistic construction.

When he's not working, Ben enjoys taking an active role in his local community and church in East Reading with his wife, Lydia, and their five children.
