Burkey Construction is pleased to announce that steel erection has been completed at The Rookery, our expansion project for Berks Nature.

To celebrate this project milestone, teachers and students at Berks Nature Preschool, which is located directly beneath the new addition, put their mark on the project with painted handprints across the final beam. The organization’s education programs have been able to remain operational throughout the construction process, thanks to constant communication and coordination between owner and contractor.

The Rookery is a direct addition to The Nature Place, which was constructed by Burkey in 2018. This new facet of the facility will mirror the sustainable construction methods and materials that were used in the original LEED Gold-certified proejct, such as repurposed wood paneling and sheep’s wool insulation.

The project is set to reach substantial completion by March 2022.
