Burkey Construction is pleased to anounce the grand opening of Penske Truck Leasing’s newest facility in Cranbury, New Jersey. Constructed for one of the company’s oldest clients, this 25,000 square-foot structure is situated on 13 acres of land and features 10 service areas, five drive-thru bays, an automated wash bay, and a full-service three lane fuel island. This location offers truck leasing, rentals, and fleet maintenance to Penske customers.
This facility, intended to be a template for future Penske leasing buildings, was slated for a spring 2020 construction start. Due to the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the permitting issues that followed, the project was put on hold. Throughout the delays, Burkey’s team maintained constant communication with subcontractors and suppliers to combat material costs and manpower shortages.
With the permit process for the building itself still ongoing, extensive sitework began in the summer of 2020. Once that process reached completion, work on the facility, which is a combination of conventional and pre-engineered construction, commenced in May 2021.
With a longstanding relationship stretching back to the 1970s, Burkey and Penske have collaborated on numerous projects together. Currently, Burkey is constructing several facilities for the company, including a new leasing facility in Linden, New Jersey.
