Burkey Celebrates Multi-Family Facility Groundbreaking

On June 7, 2024, Burkey Construction and Lanes End Capital, LLC celebrated the groundbreaking of an 81,000 square-foot multi-family project located at 610 Main Street, Royersford, PA. This wood-framed apartment complex will feature 78 luxury units within driving distance of Philadelphia and other metropolitan areas, with a walkable design that melds with the existing businesses and layout of Main Street.

The ground floor’s layout includes several high-exposure retail and office spaces, while the top three floors will contain apartment units with varying floor plans. Residents of the future units will have access to shops, restaurants, and various other local amenities. Ample on-site parking, a much-needed addition to Main Street, will also be available.

The new building is located on the site of Nelson’s Ice Cream’s original factory, which opened in 1916. Originally dairy farmers, the Nelson family began producing ice cream in 1935, with their factory being a landmark in the Royersford community ever since.

Throughout the design phase, the owner was adamant about preserving the historic value of the site and the charm of downtown Royersford. The brick chosen for the exterior is a nod to the original brickwork featured throughout the town, and all landscaping will be done with plants indigenous to the area.

Burkey is partnering with Meister-Cox Architects, Systems Design Engineering, Keystone Structural Group, and Site Engineering Concepts on this project, which has an anticipated Fall 2025 completion date.
