Project Overview
Established in 1782, Ha'Penny Farm's barn compliments a sophisticated farm house and a collection of exemplary 18th Century pioneer farm structures. The iconic simplicity of the exterior masks the barn's complex interior engineering, detailed workmanship, and advanced functionality.
The restoration work consisted of replacing the entire roof and wooded purlins to the original material of cedar shakes. Multiple layers of metal roofing had to be removed while maintaining weather-proofing for the building's interior. Milled larch timbers were utilized from the site, in addition to locally-sourced white oak lumber, in an effort to stay true to the original construction.
